Infant Feeding - Introduction
/Breastfeeding is widely recognized as being the healthiest way to feed your Newborn baby. It has many benefits to both mother and baby. By deciding to breastfeed, you’ll be giving your child the best possible start in life. Any period of breastfeeding, however short, will benefit your baby, the maximum benefits are gained by feeding breastmilk and nothing else until around six months, and then continuing to breastfeed after solids are introduced until your baby is a year or more old.

Breast milk gives your baby all the nutrients needed for the first six months of life and continues to benefit your baby by protecting your baby from infection and other diseases. It can reduce the mothers chances of getting some illnesses later in life such as breast or ovarian cancer and it also it uses 500 calories a day.
Breastfeeding helps you and your baby to get close and form a special bond.
